All Cybertronians can speak "Native Cybertronian" at written and spoken levels. If your Transformers campaign is to be set purely upon Cybertron, then you have no real problem. Written language in this case could be anything, though I again strongly suspect a derivative of Binary. Thus, any instance of Transformers seeming to speak English, they are in fact speaking their native tongue and it is being translated. In this case, The Transformer written language would be English with Binary influences.Ģ, The Quints developed a Universal Translator, and installed it into their servitor machines. English may be a language common to the entire galaxy that does not have it's roots on Earth, thus it may be called "Galactic Common" or something along those lines. This could be true, where it not for the fact that Transformers who had access to Earth Languages easily communicated during time travel with Cybertronians of the past, thus supporting the Quintesson language as English.ġ, The main language of the Transformer Race, as given to them by their Quintesson masters is English. HOWEVER, the Cybertronian understanding of English may well occour during the scanning of native forms for their alternate identities while on a given world, scanning not only native vehicle forms, but the native language of a planet as well. So, if the Quint's main language is English, then from the early days of the rebellion, Cybertronians will speak a derivative of English, which explains their easy assimiliation of pop culture on Earth, as well as the ease with which they communicate with the natives. Even on Quintessa, they spoke in English to all of their captives. However, little supports the idea of a Quintesson language, as on occasions where Quint technology has been seen, the visual languages have striking similarities to English, indeed, they pretty much are. The question becomes, how would a Quint communicate? As traders, the Quints would be well versed in a great deal of intergalactic tongues, at least until such time as Quint science creates a universal translator. As true sentience begins to flourish, it is likely that the written and verbal languages will be based upon or at least share certain derivates of Quintesson. Most Cybertronian Tech is based on voice commands with minimal visual stimulus, as far as I recall from the series, but this does raise an interesting point.īeing machines, and originally servant's to Quintesson subjegation, the primary spoken and written languages of the Cybertronians are likely to have been a derivative of binary.
